The wait is over… Tyla has finally released her self-titled, debut album. However, some local fans have already shown their disappointment with the album’s first track featuring Kelvin Momo.
The Johannesburg-born Grammy winner had many excited when she released her tracklist a few days before the album’s release date.
“I’ve been working on my sound for two years now and I’m so ready for the world to hear it. I cannot wait for the world to experience an African popstar,” she shared with social media users.
International featured artists seen written on a whiteboard included Tems, Gunna, Skillibeng, Becky G and Travis Scott (who has already been named on the remix of Water).
One name that stood out for many South Africans was that of record producer Kelvin Momo.

As soon as the album dropped, fans rushed to music streaming platforms to hear what Tyla had to offer. To their disappointment, the track featuring Kelvin was no more than a 41-second recording of Kelvin and others jamming to Tyla’s singing in the background.
In true South African X (formerly Twitter) fashion, many took to the app to express their opinions and thoughts.
One person shared, “They must be saving a Kelvin Momo track for the deluxe. I bet you they’re using the intro to tease that there’s an actual track. There’s no way there’s no track.”

Although they liked the album, one X user commented, “Tyla and Kelvin Momo owe us a banger [crying emojis], they did us dirty but what a phenomenal tease.”
