Singer, radio and television show host Unathi Nkayi is popular for being a loving and protective mother to her two children Sinako and Imbo whom she shares with ex-husband Thomas Msengana, so much that, she chose not to share pictures of them on social media for many years.
Many applauded the conscious decision made by the multi-award-winning singer who upheld it until his son Sinako was 18, a legal age to make his own decisions. The Ndiyazithanda Mna hitmaker first shared pictures of Sinako when he came back from ulwaluko, (a Xhosa passage of a boy into manhood).
In the past, Unathi has been a victim of cyberbullying on numerous occasions, with some mocking her pictures and her hair. The cyberbullying led to her deciding not to be part of the X (formerly known as Twitter) family, a platform that can be very toxic at times.
Now that Sinako is over the age of 18 and at university, Unathi shared pictures with him at the same event they both worked at.
Capturing her pictures with her son, she raised a question:
“QUESTION – If my son and I worked at the same gig last night and he made his bank……is he still allowed to tell me about the new Yeezy’s that he wants me to buy him when I have his uni fees and hockey club fees, etc to worry about? Yho these kids. Proud of him.”

Seeing Sinako’s pictures, the internet users could not believe how much the two looked alike:
One user noted how young Unathi looks, commenting, “You look like siblings.”
Responding to Unathi’s question in the post, a user responded, “Well done mommy, you raised a well-mannered gentleman other kids would have said abantu bazothini (what are people going to say), but it sure looks like a well-foundation was done here. As for your question, our kids will remain our kids, will still support them where they cannot afford,” commented a user.
“Your outfit mommy, also you guys look exactly alike,” noted one user.
Another user saw both Unathi and Thomas in Sinako commenting, “They grow up so fast it’s unbelievable and he is a mix of both mom and dad…wishing him all the best and mama u look dazzling.”
