Jacob Zuma, the former president of the Republic of South Africa’s name will be on the list of Umkhonto Wesizwe candidates featured on the ballot paper for this year’s elections after the Electoral Court dismissed the IEC’s ruling that aimed to exclude former president from the list.
The news were not only welcomed by MK party members who took to social media platforms to express their joy, but other political leaders also welcomed the ruling.
UDM leader General Bantu Holomisa was among those who saw nothing wrong with the verdict, taking to his X (former Twitter) to express himself, he shared:
“He convinced the court that he wants to comeback and finish his unfinished second term . Akalwanga namuntu ufuna nje ukuqedelela isecond term yakhe awakhutshwa yiKangaroo Court kaANC (he’s not fighting with anyone, he just wants to finish his office term that he was taken out of by the ANC’s Kangaroo court) but not by Parliament which elected him in the first instance.”

On the comment section, internet users were quick to point out the General’s double standards, commenting:
A once revered General Bantu Holomisa who was once ZUMA must fall protest co- ordinator has just relegated himself to be Jacob Zuma bootlicker😂😂😂 Tata hw is udm doing or you no longer part and parcel of UDM hence you’re busy feed spooning us with Zuma affairs??

Others were more concerned about his own party, asking:
How’s UDM performing in terms of campaigns, any prospect of coming back? General, sometimes you suprise me, why always talking about other parties not about what alternative is yours doing or offering, or you gave up? I’ll listen on the radio for an answer.

What about Mr Thabo Mbeki? Should he also demand to finish his term? You have sunk so low General, its sad to watch. Twerking doesn’t suit you.

Another user reminded Bantu of his participation in the Zuma must fall campaign, commenting:
You acting like you were not sweating in the sun with thousands of South Africans singing Zuma must fall. Your u-turn in the Zuma matter reeks of opportunism. Teaspoon of iintloni rhoqo ngemini is very important.
Disgraceful way to exit politics.
