Due to the Senzo Meyiwa trial, Kelly Khumalo’s career has been negatively impacted as she loses gigs due to her having to appear in court.
Senzo Meyiwa, captain and goalkeeper of Orlando Pirates, was fatally shot at his girlfriend’s home in Soweto in 2014. As the trial continues, Meyiwa’s family seeks justice for their loved one.
According to ZiMoja, close sources shared that the singer was losing gigs due to promoters not wanting to be associated with her after allegations came out during the trial that painted her as the main suspect behind the killing of Senzo. Although there are many versions to the story, it was reported in court and by eye-witnesses that there was no robbery that night and that the suspect is among the people who were there.
The entertainment publication states that her career took a hard knock when statements from accused number one Muzi Sibiya and two Bongani Ntanzi allegedly implicated her as the person behind this whole operation.
During the trial, Judge Ratha Mokgoathleng ruled the accused statements as admissible in court as both men alleged that Kelly paid them R100 000 for the murder.
Speaking to the above-mentioned publication the source said, “After the startling revelations were made, they shrunk. Promoters don’t want to touch her because obviously, they know what’s going on with the court case. Some of her bookings have been cancelled, because of this drama,” adding, “I was booked at the same event with her, but I was shocked to find that she wouldn’t be performing anymore because she was cancelled at the eleventh hour,”
Despite facing allegations, Kelly is doing her best to prove her innocence. However, some individuals seem fixated on portraying her as a bad person.
