Pop Stars 101 group member and former actress Pam Andrews recently opened up about her reasons for quitting acting at the peak of her blossoming career.
Pam rose to fame after she was selected as a member of the group 101 in the first season of the music talent search, Pop Stars.
Other group members included Ntumiseng Mokhasipe, Preston Sihlangu Kurt Herman, and Erin Samson.
The mother of one further stretched her career branching into acting, featuring on eTv’s Backstage and Rhythm City.
She later moved abroad after marrying the father of her son, Cedric Thivillon back in 2008, later divorcing and remarrying a polish guy in 2014.
The UK based mother of one shared a post on her TikTok about details on what made her quits acting.
“So, I started going to group therapy recently, because I’m broken,” joked the singer.
She continued, “I’ve got some stuff going on with me, some trauma that happened. It disrupts my life basically and I had to give up so many things because of it. Like for instance, the hardest thing I had to give up was being an actress, even though I’ve tried so many times to just get into that space again, as soon as I tried, I just completely struggle with my hormones. Emotionally I stress out so much that I start panicking, my depression and anxiety just goes all crazy.”
Pam added that as a mom it was important that she drops everything that unsettles her including acting as she needed to be in a good state of mind for her son.
Speaking of her journey to getting better she shared, “So I am going to therapy, I have group therapy because I have PMDD and all the other stuff and apparently I might have PTSD but complex PTSD which is brought on from childhood trauma and stuff because I have a lot of flash backs because of stuff that maybe happened or stuff I did to someone, just feeling guilty.”
“Being in that moment of feeling the exact same way I felt when the thing was happening, when I felt maybe threatened, that is something me and my doctors are going to be looking at,” added the mother of one.
She concluded saying that it is good to understand ourselves better as it makes it easy for us to know why we feel certain things and how to handle ourselves when going through those feelings.
