Mzansi magic sets the record on the food poisoning incident that is alleged to have taken place on Shaka iLembe set and killed two crew members.
According to Zimoja, a make-up artist and someone else whose identity has not been disclosed died from food poisoning on set.
However, Mzansi Magic recently shared a statement with TshisaLive dismissing these allegations while acknowledging the death of one crew member.
“Mzansi Magic can confirm that there was no food poisoning on the set of Shaka iLembe. The make-up artist in question was employed on the set for only one and a half day. On her second day, she reported feeling weak with flu-like symptoms.
“She was promptly sent to see the medic, and her next of kin was contacted to collect her. Regrettably, her condition worsened, and she passed away three days later at home,” read the statement.
Shaka iLembe is a South African television series that premiered in 2023 and portrays the story of the making of King Shaka from the Zulu Kingdom in the 1700s. The two key actors playing Shaka are the incredibly talented Lemogang Tsipa as the adult king and newcomer Ntando Zondi as the young Shaka.
Other stars on the series are Nomzamo Mbatha who played Queen Nandi with Thembinkosi Mthembu starring as King Dingiswayo and Senzo Radebe in the role of King Senzangakhona kaJama.
Multi choice greenlit season 2 after the drama series won fans. While season 1 showcased the origins story of the legendary African King, Season 2 is expected to pick up the story as King Shaka begins his long prophesized reign, writing himself into history.
