South African actor Zolisa Xaluva addresses being asked to go back to Smoke and Mirrors.
This is a series that follows the life of Thandiswa, who is a hairdresser by day and an escort by night. She is a girl on a mission to rid her town of the morally corrupt men who run Emnyameni.
Zolisa was part of the first season of the series and could not be part of the second because he had other commitments to attend to. Since the news broke, some viewers made it known that they were going to stop watching the series until the production bring Zolisa back.
The character Caeser, that he used play is now played by multi-award-winning actor Hlomla Dandala.
Talking to news publication TshisaLIVE, Zolisa said that he does not doubt that viewers want him back on Smoke and Mirrors.
He shared with the publication that he experiences the desire to go back every day, be it online or physically, “Every time I step outside, I’m faced with a ‘why did you leave or when are you coming back?’.”
He also said that it feels great to know how much impact he had on the show, adding that, he is aware of the appreciation shown by the audience.
He also cleared the rumours of him being fired, “My departure from the show was a business or rather contractual one. It was never personal. I’m a businessman, if business is done right, I’m keen to play.”
