South African kwaito star Brickz is concerned for his 16-year-old son Gugulethu Cleopas Ndlovu, known in the music world as Google Da DJ, over the young DJ’s decision to prioritise his music career over his school studies.
It’s alleged that the Sweet My Baby hitmaker is deeply concerned about his son’s choices. A reliable source close to the pair suggested that Brickz feels fame and the demands of a music career will distract his son from his education as reported by TimesLive.
A reliable source close to the pair told TimesLive that Brickz feels as though fame will distract his son from his studies.
“The boy is doing well as a DJ and is continuously winning competition challenges on Jozi FM, and people are booking him and demanding a release of his single but his father wants him to put his head towards his books.”
The situation has reportedly created a family feud, with some members believing that Gugulethu should continue with his music career due to his evident talent and success.
Cleopas’s grandmother, Adelaide Mabaso, confirmed to TshisaLIVE that she also believes Gugulethu should prioritise his education but not completely abandon his DJing talent.
“I’m aware of his disagreement with his father regarding him DJing over his studies. At least he is getting free advice from somebody who’s been in the music industry. His father knows what he is talking about[…] I mean he can continue with his DJing after completing his matric, it’s not like we are saying he must abandon his talent altogether,” she said.
