KFC has done an outstanding job in creating awareness about the difference South Africans can make in the lives of the less fortunate with their charity initiative called Add Hope. However, one worker has recently faced disciplinary action after failing to ask customers whether they were willing to donate.
According to the well-known fast food restaurant, the initiative is focused on encouraging the nation to join in a collective effort to fight malnutrition and hunger in South Africa. The way this is achieved is by employees asking customers to voluntarily contribute a donation of R2 to help feed over 30 million underprivileged children across the country.
Recently one of its employees took to social media sharing a warning letter received from the company after allegedly failing to ask customers for R2 donations.

After the post created a massive discussion on social media, KFC responded by dismissing the allegations. They explained that the “Add Hope” success, or lack thereof, does not influence the evaluation processes when measuring an employee’s performance.

Meanwhile, in a new update published by news publication Sunday World, the publication revealed that KFC has done an investigation and found that one of its branches has in fact handed a worker a warning letter.
In the statement obtained by the publication, the popular fast-food restaurant stated:
“As soon as we became aware of the allegations, we prioritised an investigation into the validity of the ‘warning letter’,” said KFC in a statement.
“Unfortunately, this morning, we confirmed the allegations proved to be true.
“As a franchised business, we implement systems and processes to deal with incidents that do not align with our ethos and values and have already taken immediate action to address this incident, specifically, with the partner in question.”
KFC added that they have reminded their staff there is a whistleblower line put in place to ensure that such matters are reported immediately so that it can be dealt with.
