After continuous challenges with her mental health, it appears that radio presenter and media personality Dineo Ranaka has finally discovered a newfound passion that’s got her excited to live life again.
Following her exit from radio, Dineo has recently joined creative forces with Barney Jiri, popularly known as The Purple Chef, on a business opportunity by venturing into providing catering services with their new business The Untrained Chef.
According to news and entertainment publication IOL, the pair recently had an event on Father’s Day and provided snacks for a small and intimate group of people at the Zebra Square Gallery in Hyde Park, Johannesburg.

It is understood that their business idea has been in existence from as far back as 2017. After opening their doors in Wynberg, Johannesburg in May, Dineo made it clear that it was her love and passion for food that led her to open the business.
“I am just a home cook who really loves to cook but I have surrounded myself with a team of very skilled culinary chefs that head my kitchen… I really love to cook, and I am really good at it, so why not?”
IOL reported that being the perfectionist that he is, Barney is the one who spends most of the time ensuring that the food they prepare looks appealing to the eye, while Dineo keeps her eyes on ensuring that all tasks are completed and delivers on client expectations.
As someone who has always been open about her mental health challenges, she shared a post earlier this year highlighting just how much the food she prepares will impact her clients.
“We believe in a culture of mindful eating. Food that nourishes the body, invigorates the mind and uplifts the spirit.”
Her new outlook on life has also led her to explore other fun opportunities, one of which was participating in season 2 of The Masked Singer SA where she was recently unmasked as Diamond.
