There were scenes of jubilation and excitement when the BET award-winning singer Makhadzi returned to home soil following a successful weekend at the 2024 BET award ceremony, held in Los Angeles on Sunday.
This comes after the 28-year-old returned with more than just a new age, but accompanying her luggage was her trophy after she was awarded the Best New International Act at this year’s ceremony.
Upon arrival at Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport on Wednesday, Makhadzi was greeted by proud parents who found themselves filled with emotion at how far their Limpopo-born daughter has come.
Speaking to the entertainment publication TshisaLive, Thomas Ralivhona, her dad said: “I’m proud of her. I’m so happy. She made the whole family and the whole country proud. Everyone in Venda is proud. She should keep going.”
The rest of her family were in attendance as well, many of whom were in traditional attire.

Speaking to the above-mentioned publication, her aunt who she grew up with, Calphonia Nesengani, described her as a go- getter.
She recalled a time when Makhadzi was working on her first album and suddenly went missing, only to return with the finished product.
“That’s when we realised she had a dream, and she went after everything she wanted. This is exactly the result of what she has always wanted. This is a dream come true.”

Today Makhadzi believes that she is a miracle child of God, especially given when she has come from, to where she now finds herself.
