Awkward Dates is a YouTube dating show and podcast hosted by media personality Thulasizwe Siphiwe Dambuza, known professionally as Lasizwe.
“It’s unscripted, totally unpredictable, and filled with laugh-out-loud moments… Perfect for those who love a good dose of humor with their star-studded content!” the show’s description says.
Since its inception, the show has seen a wide range of local celebrities, from A-listers such as Mihlali Ndamase and Minnie Dlamini, to politicians like Mmusi Maimane.
“The show was inspired by this UK YouTuber who is also a content creator. Her name is Amelia Dimoldenberg. She has a show called Chicken Shop Date and I was a huge fan of it and how she executed it.” said Lasizwe

Lasizwe’s most recent guest was award-winning actress, who has also been unofficially dubbed as one of South Africa’s most beautiful faces, Linda Mtoba.
The date revealed a fun, flirty, and humorous side to Linda as she and Lasizwe tackled topics such as careers, family history, and each other’s ideal dates. Lasizwe even joked about how funny Linda was, ” You know you’re so funny?” says Lasizwe to which Linda responds by saying that she is well aware of her comedic talents.
Lasizwe shared the date under a joint post with Linda and himself, with the caption “Eh eh eh! What an awkward date!”.
Avid watchers of the show responded well to the episode, most commenting about Linda’s breathtaking beauty. “What makes Linda even more beautiful is that she is relatable…” says one user in the YouTube comments.

The date ended on a real awkward note with the couple arguing over who gets to take the bill, and Linda expressing how disappointed she was in Lasizwe not handling the bill. Of course it goes without saying, that it was all for comedic relief.
