Ncazelo Mtolo, widely known as MusiholiQ, has been left devastated after his home in Umlazi, KwaZulu-Natal, burned to the ground. The artist, renowned for his unique contributions to the South African music scene, opened up about the harrowing experience in an interview with ZiMoja.
According to the mentioned publication, the fire began near the kitchen area in one of the bedrooms and spread through the house, ultimately burning the main house to the ground.
Fortunately, the smaller outside house, which MusiholiQ and his brother used as a studio, was spared. His mother, sister, and daughter were in the outside room during the fire.
MusiholiQ suspects an electrical fault caused the blaze, as the main switch is near the bedroom where the fire likely started. The family only noticed the fire when it spread to the ceiling.
Neighbours called the fire station, but the family lost all their valuables, including clothes, appliances, Valuable documents such as their IDs, and books. His mother is particularly struggling to cope with the loss.
“The main switch is next to the bedroom, and we think the fire started there and moved to the bed until it became uncontrollable. Everyone was in the outside rooms and only saw the fire when it spread to the ceiling[..] My mother is not okay, we have lost all our valuables,” MusiholiQ explained to the publication.
Rapper Zakwe also took to his Facebook account to plead with people to help MusiholiQ during this difficult time. He urged his followers to contribute and support the artist and his family in any way they can.
MusiholiQ took to TikTok to share a video of the aftermath, and many people offered to help.
One user commented, “Sorry brother..stay strong I believe you’ll come back stronger.”
Another shared, “This hurts, I know the pain. I was in the same condition in 2021; I lost my young brother at the same time. I will help, my king.”
Another user added, “Kuzohlangana bhuti wami (everything will be alright my brother)… You can just drop your banking details; we can contribute with the little we have, bhuti wami.” In response, MusiholiQ provided his bank account details for those wishing to help.
