It is hard to believe that it has been three years since legendary actor and producer Shona Ferguson died, after succumbing to covid related complications.
Before his death, Shona took on several roles that won over the hearts of many South Africans, such as his character that watchers of Mzansi Magic’s ‘The Queen‘ nicknamed ‘Robocop’, Jerry Maake. He also featured in The Wild, Rockville and Kings of Joburg, which were under his own Ferguson Films.
The late actor’s wife, fellow actress and director Connie took to her Instagram to pen an emotional and heartfelt tribute to her late husband. The actress shared her journey since losing her husband and reminisced on the memories they shared.

“Today marks 3 years since your departure my SKAT. Still feels unreal, but unreal has become our reality and we’re living with it…” she captions a clip showing a younger Shona in his role on The Wild.

Connie celebrated what would have been her late husband’s 50th birthday earlier this year as well. She shared her favourite video of him and another tear-jerking message.
“Today would have been your 50th birthday! The way you were looking forward to it and how you had started planning for it already! All I know is if you were here, we would be in some foreign country right now exploring and celebrating life! Because you were big on celebrating!” the actress wrote.

She has been open with her supporters and fans about her journey of grieving Shona, and South Africans empathise deeply with her.
