The talented swimmer announced her retirement from the sport shortly after winning her silver medal. “Swimming is just a season in my life. There is so much more than swimming and I’m excited to live life,” she told the Daily Maverick.

However, her story isn’t over. Tatjana has always expressed a desire to give back to South African swimming, with a potential role in representing athletes. Her legacy, and representation all began with last night’s closing ceremony.
