Cassper Nyovest responds to criticism of his live performances: ‘God gave me stage presence’

Local rapper Cassper Nyovest is a powerhouse when it comes to his live performances. He’s arguably one of the only South African artists who sells out stadiums and performs to packed audiences.

His latest album Solomon was released to critical acclaim, further cementing his status as rap’s VIP. When a fan posted his thoughts on X (formerly Twitter) about the Sweet and Short star’s recent live gigs, Nyovest didn’t take the criticism lightly.

@TBallondom5553 wrote: “Lately I’m worried about @casspernyovest the performances are no longer giving what’s wrong groot man? We miss the old Mufasa.”

His comments stirred up feelings from fellow online users. @_DJMosh suggested: “Maybe your stage presence could be elevated by newer and more relatable music. Performance alone is not enough… what you are performing counts too.”

But Nyovest was having none of the criticism and responded to @TBallondom5553 directly: “Don’t lie. Don’t do that. Hahahaa shebathong die manne… Wareng ??? Eseng nna boy!!! Kea tshela mo stageng!!!!”

Referencing Nyovest’s recent lifestyle changes, including finding his way back into the Church, an avid fan said people had a problem not with his performances but sharing his spiritual experiences onstage. “@casspernyovest I think that people have a problem with you talking about Jesus on stage or singing gospel…

“Cos what do they mean when they say you’re not giving on stage..rona we enjoy your performances and we love that you’re talking about Jesus.”

Staying true to his star power, the Billiato owner made a final mic drop and gave his haters something to think about. “Hahahaha you can criticise everything and mock me all you want mara on the stage I’m 2nd to none,” he wrote.

“God gave me stage presence and star power !!! Lebala!!!”
