Two medals, one family – there is a lot that the Kolisi and Smiths have in common. Not only are they related to one another through marriage, but both can brag about the fact that they are gold medalists.
Recently Springbok captain Siya Kolisi and renowned swimmer Tatjana Smith took to social media to show off the medals they each of won while in Paris, France.
Taking Instagram, Siya took the time to celebrate his sister-in-law after spending two weeks away from home while on a Springbok tour to Australia.
In his post, he wrote: “The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy – Psalm 126:3”
The picture attached to the post shows Siya posing with his gold medal after winning a second consecutive World Cup medal, while Tajana donned her much-deserved Olympic gold medal.

Ending off the post he wrote: “Family business.”
Siya is however not the only one who has openly celebrated Tajana’s success. So did his wife Rachel who is the sister of Tajana’s husband Joel.
While taking time to spend the day doing activations at a high school with the Kolisi Foundation, Rachel expressed how proud she was to be related to the now-retired Olympian.
“I can’t believe she’s my sister-in-law. A South African gem, I am so proud of you Tajana, for the medals yes, but mostly for the sacrifices, hard decisions and commitment to our good Lord.”

Following a brief stint in France where he donned the colours of the blue and white hoops of Racing 92, Siya has decided to return to South Africa where he will continue his rugby career.
The Bok number 6 joined the French club shortly after the World Cup, however, things turned sour when the club owner, Jacy Lorenzetti made some nasty comments about Siya’s weight and overall form at the club.
