Radio personality Thato Sikwane, famously known as DJ Fresh recently shared details surrounding the passing of his ex-wife radio broadcaster, Thabiso Sikwane just days before her 50th celebration.
The former couple married for 20 years after announcing their divorce in 2020.
As per reports by news publication, Sowetan Live, family spokesperson, Thami Ngubeni said, “It was a belated birthday celebration scheduled on Saturday in Johannesburg. Thabiso turned 50 on July 3. She was on a missionary trip and decided to celebrate her birthday in the service of the Lord,” adding, “She only managed to schedule her 50th on August 31 to celebrate it with everyone.”
Thabiso’s untimely passing follows days after her recent episode on her ex-husband’s What a Week podcast dropped where they shared fond memories of each other when they were married.
Taking to Instagram, DJ Fresh shared that Thabiso died from cardiac arrest, adding that, the cause of it was not yet known as they are awaiting the necessary documents to confirm the cause of the death.
He said, “We did lose Thabiso this morning around 6.30 am. We are told it could have been a cardiac event, but what could have caused it hasn’t been ascertained, so we await a postmortem. We will give everyone clarity because it doesn’t make sense to anyone. We will keep you updated on the memorial and all of that.”
