South African actress Leleti Khumalo was honoured with the prestigious Golden Elephant Lifetime Achievement Award at the Market Theatre.
Taking to Instagram, Leleti shared her joy and gratitude with her followers. She wrote, “This past week, I was honoured with a Golden Elephant Lifetime Achievement Award at the Market Theatre. It is great serendipity that this event was held at the birthplace of my career. On this day, I want to take a moment to celebrate all the women who came before me, the legends who are alive, and those who have passed. Niyidlalile indima ebandla(You all played a big role).”
Leleti extended appreciation to those who have supported her throughout her career. “I am deeply honored to have received this award, ngiyabonga koGatsheni, Boya Benyathi nethimba lakhe ningapheli umoya uyangcomeka umsebenzi wenu, makwande,”
The ceremony was also a shared celebration for Leleti and fellow actress Thembi Mtshali-Jones, who received the same award. Leleti praised her colleague in her post: “@mtshalijones halala zakwethu, I couldn’t have asked to receive this award with a better human. You are loved.”

According to DailySun, Leleti extended her thanks to Duma Ndlovu, the creator of the Golden Elephant Awards, and recognized his significant role in the industry along with Dr. Thembi Mtshali-Jones, who also received the Lifetime Achievement Award, shared her appreciation for the recognition.
