The bread manufacturing company Sasko has issued a statement extending their heartfelt apologies towards the customer who shockingly discovered the remains of a mouse in her loaf of bread.
Last week a Facebook user took to social media to share a shocking discovery after purchasing a loaf of bread at her local Spar grocery store.
In the post the customer revealed how she discovered the remains of a mouse had been ingrained into multiple slices of her baked loaf of bread which she had already started consuming.
In disgust she reached out to Sasko via email, and a representative assured her that the incident would have no effect on her health.
The video attached to the post has since begun circulating all over the internet with prompting a response from the renowned bread company.
In a recent statement they wrote:
“We were shocked and devastated when a KZN consumer, informed us that she found a rodent in her loaf of Sasko bread. We sincerely apologise for any convenience or discomfort that this incident caused Ms Nombulelo Mkumla as well as any of our other loyal consumers.”
To get to the root of the matter, they said that they have launched an investigation and engaged with a third party service provider to examine the production facility in question.
While have currently been no signs of infestation they further noted that precautionary measures have been put in place to ensure thorough investigation.
“We have decided however as a precautionary measure, to suspend bread production at the facility in question until such time the investigation is completed and we are fully satisfied that there is no risk to our consumers.”
