The weeks leading up to the Miss SA finale were filled with controversy and confusion as the story of one Chidimma Vanessa Adetshina consistently made headlines as it unfolded right in front of the South African public.
In a shocking and unexpected turn of events, the Department of Home Affairs revealed that evidence pointed to a crime of fraud being committed approximately 23 years ago, by the woman who was known as Chidimma’s mother. This information garnered a negative reaction from the public, as the consensus was that Chidimma essentially is not South African and, therefore cannot compete and win in a competition that would determine the country’s next ambassador.
Subsequently, Chidimma announced her withdrawal from the competition, citing her safety and well-being as reasons for her withdrawal. She then went on to be invited to join the Miss Universe Nigeria competition where she went to the very end to win the ultimate prize.
Since winning Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidimma has been learning and reintegrating into Nigerian society, where she has been embraced with open arms by the people. The month of October is a significant one as it marks the anniversary of the county’s independence, and the new Miss Universe took the opportunity to commemorate this significant day with a photoshoot.
Sharing the results on her social media, Chidimma expressed the importance of Independence Day and what it means to her.
“Independence Day is not just a day to celebrate our freedom, It’s a day to showcase our unity, love, harmony, and strength as a nation…” her caption read.

Other users have voiced that their only concern with Chidimma is finding out the specifics of the case related to her mother, and nothing else. With some going as far as tagging the Minister of Home Affairs, Leon Schreiber for the specifics.
@Leon_Schreib what happened to the investigation into this woman’s family fraudulent dealings..?
