Award-winning singer Makhadzi has voiced her disappointment over the slow ticket sales for her One Woman show on December 21.
Meanwhile, American R&B singer Chris Brown’s concert in Johannesburg has seen such high demand that a second show was added. Both performances, set for December 14 and 15 at FNB Stadium, have had incredible sales success.
The Limpopo-born singer took to social media to express her frustration on X (formerly known as Twitter). Makhadzi posted: “South Africa KE MOVIE SO NNA I MUST TAKE 10 years to sell out PETER MOKABA STADIUM TICKETS. Chris brown lamofa 2 hours.”

Responding to her post, Minister of Sports, Arts, and Culture Gayton McKenzie, known for his hands-on approach, threw his support behind Makhadzi, saying he would buy a bulk number of tickets for her Limpopo show: “I will be there and will buy 200 tickets for those that want to accompany me to Peter Mokaba to see one of our biggest stars in the world.”

However, not all netizens were sympathetic.
@StHonorable said: “She’ll appreciate that a lot after throwing tantrums about 2 hours of sales of Chris Brown’s tickets.”

Despite the mixed reactions, McKenzie’s offer received widespread praise. Several people even volunteered to join him at the show.

I wish other Ministers can learn a few things from you and I promise there might be a huge change in South Africa. And lastly, I love the fact that you always update us, that shows how much you’re invested in serving your duties as a Minister.
