Rapper and entrepreneur Cassper Nyovest has been receiving backlash from internet users after sneaker company Drip Footwear’s assets were liquidated.
In 2021, GQ South Africa reported that the businessmen, Cassper and the owner of the sneaker brand Lekau Sehoana partnered up for the ‘The Roof Of Fame 990’ sneaker which gained massive popularity from local consumers.
Speaking to the above-mentioned source on their new collaboration, the rapper said, “My fame didn’t matter for the first time in my life it was useless. I then asked myself how I could package this fame and sell it. I had to make a product that not only is associated with my name but gives people a taste of how it feels to be me. I had to dig deep into the roots, hence the name The Root Of Fame”.
Just days after it was announced that Lekau’s business was being liquidated, Cassper’s name is now being dragged into the mud for the sneaker company’s downfall.
According to the online publication, MDN News, during the 2021 collaboration, Cassper signed an R100 million deal causing fans to fault him for not supporting the company during their R20 million debt.

People need to understand that “R100M deal” doesn’t mean R100M in liquid cash. It’s a partnership based on how many shoes he could sell. And that’s surface level info, we don’t even know the details of that deal.
Even if Lekau got donations, he’d still open new stores!

But Cassper Did push Drip and Root of Fame with almost the same effort, but of course he was mostly Pushing ROF because it’s his. Now here the problem for Drip’s liquidation is unknown momentarily, so we can’t be pointing fingers at people who were involved without even knowing…
