Drip Footwear founder Lekau Sehaona recently announced his new sneaker drop, despite having his business assets liquidated.
The businessman first rose to fame in 2019 when introducing people to his sneaker company. According to reports by news publication SowteanLive, Lekau’s company was liquidated due to his failure to pay the high-impact advertising company WideOpenPlatform their fee of R20 million.
The news publication adds that due to his company going into this liquidation process he had to retrench all his employees working at his footwear branches, adding that, he released a statement which read, “Dear employees, kindly note that the business has taken every measure to attempt and avoid the liquidation process. Unfortunately, this was an eventuality that could not be avoided notwithstanding the measures considered by the business.”
Speaking to SoweatanLive, Gauteng finance MEC Lebohang Maile stated that Lekau asked for financial assistance, which led him to write a letter to SARB governor Lesetja Kganyago.
Despite the financial challenges in his business, Lekau has continued business as usual as he recently announced his new sneaker drop for the 1st of December.
According to claims by IOL, Lekau’s business loss was seen as a business strategy from some internet users as they alluded that he was running away from paying his ex-wife’s cut for the divorce settlement.
