The road to the highly anticipated South African Music Awards (SAMA) is officially underway, and there are a variety of different categories of awards for our favourite celebrities to snatch. Ringo Madlingozi is set to be honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 30th edition of the coveted awards.
With the recipient chosen by the members of the Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA), the Lifetime Achievement Award aims to shine a light on individuals who have not only managed to maintain longevity in the industry but have made valuable contributions towards the betterment of the industry.
At this year’s 30th edition of the awards, Eastern Cape-born Ringo Madlingozi is set to be the recipient of the prestigious award, for his major contributions to mzansi’s music industry. The multi-award-winning singer and songwriter will be recognised for his music and impact in mzansi.
“From his iconic win on Shell Road to Fame in 1986 to captivating audiences worldwide, Ringo’s soulful rhythms have transcended borders for decades. With 15 albums to his name and collaborations with musical greats like Miriam Makeba and UB40, his music carries messages of love, unity, and hope, healing hearts and inspiring change.”

On top of providing mzansi with some of the most memorable and nostalgic songs, Ringo has also played a significant philanthropic role in and outside of the industry, as well as developing upcoming talents. It is also important to note that Ringo has had quite a well-rounded career, he was sworn in as a member of parliament in 2019.
