Dope clothing fashion designer loses everything in fire

Fashion designer and founder of Scotch is Dope, Andile Cele expresses sadness after suffering a business loss caused by a fire in his store.

According to entertainment publication, ZiMoja, the founder returned to his Johannesburg store from the annual Moscow Fashion Week to find his store in ashes.

The entertainment publication also cited that the cause of the fire could have been through a geyser that burst in the store.

Speaking on this tragedy, Andile said, “It still feels like a bad dream. This is a major setback,” adding, “I had important archives of my old collections that I was keeping as a reference. They are all destroyed, and those are important collectables I was saving.”

Before losing his belongings in the fire, Andile showcased in latest collection at renowned haircare brand, Sta-Sof-Fro Soweto Fashion Week.

Speaking to DRUM on this collection, he said, “DOPE Store began as a concept store, providing a platform for like-minded brands, Our big break came when we were invited to SA Fashion Week in 2013. That opportunity propelled us into designing our collections.”

A close source told the above-mentioned source entertainment publication, that the damages would cost roughly R1 million rand, adding, that before the geyser burst the issue had been reported to authorities and no action of taken now he lost his studio due to fire damage.
