Bonang Matheba set to host the Earthshot Prize Awards alongside Billy Porter

Before Tyla reached her unprecedented superstardom, Bonang Matheba was referred to and considered the only ‘celebrity’ in South Africa as she was miles ahead of her fellow companions.

The media personality has been selected to co-host the coveted Earthshot Prize Awards alongside American star Billy Porter.

The Earthshot Prize is the most prestigious award, seeking to “discover, celebrate and scale solutions to the environmental challenges facing the planet.” According to their website, each year for the next 10 years, a total of five solutions or projects will be awarded £ 1 million for their contributions towards environmentalism.

After a successful event held in Singapore last year, the coveted awards ceremony is set to take place in the Mother City this year.

The week-long affair, coined Earthshot Week will centre around the award ceremony, however,  include a range of different innovators, investors and philanthropists who have dedicated a large portion of their time to the environmental restoration of the planet.

As previously stated one of the more exciting and central elements of Earthshot Week are the Earthshot Prize Awards, which are set to be hosted by award-winning hosts Bonang Matheba and Billy Porter. Known for her unparalleled hosting skills which have set her apart in South Africa, it’s no surprise to those familiar with her work that she would be bestowed with such an honour.

Bonang’s previous work speaks for itself as Mzansi recently came together to advocate for Bonang to be selected as the next host of the coveted upcoming Miss Universe finale when the organiser was looking for her next selection. Although Mario Lopez was the eventual selection, Bonang’s selection for the Earthshot Prize Awards is an indication that she is headed in the right direction and is set to make a name for herself as one of the best hosts to step on a stage globally.

The global phenom is more than ready to take on the stage as she responds with the post that read “Can’t wait!”
