It seems like the drama between Cassper Nyovest and Maskhandi star Mthandeni SK is heating up, but the big question is: Is this a real beef, or are they just playing around? It all started when Cassper took to X to share his thoughts on Tyla not winning SAMAs.
In his post, Cassper wrote: “No ways. Tyla won a Grammy for water bro but she don’t get the Sama for Record of the Year at home? Haha y’all are playing games.”

Mthandeni, fresh off his win for Record of the Year at the 2024 South African Music Awards (SAMA), didn’t hold back in his own Facebook post. He called out Cassper, saying, “You’re like those guys who wear heavy shorts in hip hop, trying to stay relevant. I’m going to beat the duck!” If you’re wondering what “beat the duck” means well maybe he was initiating the boxing ring.
Cassper, never one to shy away from a challenge, fired back on Facebook, tagging Mthandeni and writing: “I’m sorry you felt offended by my comments that Tyla had a bigger song and deserved song of the year. I never meant any disrespect or malice. I’m not the type to act hard, the tough guy act isn’t me at all but I do like to box so if you wanna take it there, we can definitely go there. Nka go kwala matlho!!!” For those unfamiliar, “Nka go kwala matlho” roughly translates to “I would close your eyes.”
