As we grow up, not many of us find the opportunities to venture into the careers we initially dreamt of having, but for Ukhozi FM’s Thozama Ngwenya, the tides have quickly turned in her favour.
The talented personality has for years been a part of the Durban-based radio station working as a content producer, however, venturing into the world of drama has always been at the forefront of her wish list – and now her dreams have finally come true after securing herself a role in a new Netflix production called, Umjolo: The Gone Girl.
In a recent interview with the news and entertainment publication Daily Sun, Thozama said that despite having worked at four different radio stations as a content producer, during her upbringing her main goal was to see herself on the television.
“Acting is my first original love, but radio hijacked me, but I also love it. I’ve noticed while working on radio. However, my original love, which is acting, keeps coming,” she said.
“In 2016, I played a small character in Generation: The Legacy as Mrakza’s girl and in 2022 I was in Reyka season two and now I’m in Umjolo: The Gone Girl.”
The 31-year-old is an encouragement to many that one’s potential should not be limited to excelling only in one aspect of life.
While she has recently completed a degree in Public Relations, she has also dabbled into her love for acting by enrolling into Duma kaNdlovu Acting Academy and has a diploma in Sports Management from Durban University of Technology.
