As the years have passed, consumers have noted the decline in the quality of Black Friday sales. As they prepare for the chaotic day, many have noted Takealot as a ‘scam’ due to their unimpressive sales.
Black Friday is a special day that happens on the last Friday of each November and sees retailers offering some of the biggest sales of the year to consumers from all corners. As the standard of living continues to rise, and employees complain about their salaries not matching, the need for sales like these has become necessary now more than ever. By the look of things, retailers seem to be experiencing the same challenges as consumers, as can be seen by the lack of persuasive deals all around.
Many users and consumers have taken to their social media to voice their grievances towards e-commerce company Takealot as they appear to be playing mind games with their customers. These users reveal that the online retailer seems to have rather increased their prices, as opposed to decreasing them for the Black Friday sales. Furthermore, consumers have noted and complained that Takealot is also raising delivery prices during this period, which they deem unacceptable
Black Dot Sale on Takealot is a scam . I took that screenshot in October & today that’s the price R3,199 . From 2,199 . Enjoy Black Friday responsibly ❤️. pic.twitter.com/QFHWM3djns

Takealot think they slam. An item could be R900 original price, a week before black Friday they inflate the price to about R1500. On black Friday it’s its back to og price, R900 and make it seem like there’s a R600 discount. 😹

Some consumers have come to Takealot’s defence, reminding their fellow consumers that the e-commerce company merely acts as the middleman between customers and retailers. Therefore, according to these users, the frustration and anger should be directed to them instead.
Takealot doesnt sell anything. Its service providers on Takealot that increase or decrease their pricing…
