Highlighting some of his biggest traits, the spokesperson of the SABC Kaizer Kganyago stated that the late musician was a philanthropist, always putting the needs of others before his own ambitions.
During his heyday, the pair were good friends. He revealed that “Doc” often used to visit the SABC offices asking them for support to assist others in need.
“We then went out there from village to village building houses for the people. And we were giving people wheelchairs and groceries. He was the servant of the people,” said Kaizer.
Also in attendance was Vusi Leeuw from SAMIC (SA Music Industry Council) who shared Kaizer’s testaments regarding Doc Shebeleza’s love for people and philanthropy. He added that current musicians should learn from this.
Renowned musician Cassper Nyovest paid tribute to the singer, by rendering one of his popular hit songs, Doc Shebeleza, in honour of the late icon.
