After a four-year absence, renowned radio personality DJ Fresh is more excited than ever to return to radio frequencies.
Known for his distinctive deep voice, Thato Sikwane, best known by his industry name, DJ Fresh has done an excellent job propelling himself as one of the elite figures in the South African entertainment scene.
This comes after the 52-year-old first started his career in 1997 as a young entertainer at radio station YFM. Since then, he has moved through the ranks of several other radio stations including 5FM and Metro FM.
Following a previous hint that he would be returning to his first love, radio, the news of his comeback has now been made official.
This comes as Fresh is set to return to the mic in April this month where he will once again keep listeners entertained in a new show on Radio 947.
Speaking to the news and entertainment publication, The South African, he said: “After nearly four years away, I’m thrilled to return to radio. It’s amazing to go back to doing something I love.”
The DJ first hinted about his return during an interview with TshisaLive at a Black Coffee Foundation event, which he attended last year.
At the time he said: “I’m doing exciting things and I’m excited that next year I’m back on radio. It’s been a while and that’s what I’m looking forward to for next year. Of course, I can’t say the name of the radio station I’m going to. At the moment you should watch my podcast, WAW: What A Week.”
With the cat now out of the bag, devoted fans of him and his music might be in for a treat.
