It is officially the week of one of Cape Town’s biggest art, fashion, lifestyle and entertainment events in the highly coveted 2025 World Sports Betting Cape Town MET, and everyone is immersed in the final preps and touch-ups to ensure that all is set for the prestigious event which is sure to set the Hollywoodbets Kenilworth Racecourse alight.
An event that first debuted in 1883, and has built a rapport as some of the biggest pioneers and celebrations of popular culture as a whole is making its highly anticipated return this coming weekend. The event has promised a full slate of festivities for attendees to occupy themselves with throughout the day, from the fashion exhibitions to a plethora of entertainers, and of course, the spectacle of the day will be the exhilarating horseracing for enthusiast and newbies to enjoy alike.
What would a Cape Town MET evet look like without the legendary Gavin Rajah? Luckily we won’t have to find out as the esteemed designer will be curating this year’s fabulous ‘Couture Unleashed’ theme that will dictate the fashion of the day. Gavin will be joined by 12 of some of Mzansi’s most daring and talented designers such as Thula Sindi, Cind Bam, Fikile Sokhulu Mzukisi Mbane and more, and they will be showcasing some of their skills in the form of a collection.
Attendees also have some daytime entertainment to look forward to where they will be treated to performances by Craig Lucas, Jarrad Ricketts, and iconic drag stars Vida Fantabisher, Manila von Teez, Kat Gilardi, and RiRi Rouge. This is only the beginning though, as Heineken has been tasked to take over the reigns with an official afterparty which will be headlined by big names such as Zakes Bantwini, DJ Zinhle, GoodLuck and international pop duo Neon Dreams, giving a perfect ending to an eventful day.
One cannot forget about the fashion element of the MET, as it often brings life to the venue as attendees display their own interpretation of the ‘Couture Unleashed’ theme. This event is no place for the shy and reserved, rather, it is a space that will allow the extravagant, luxurious, flamboyant and anything along those lines to flourish and show off their unique style, and mingle and network with like-minded individuals.
