EFF member of parliament Eugene Mthethwa’s social media rant has landed him in hot water with a professional in the local music industry.
This comes after the respected politician recently took to social media criticising the work of those working in the entertainment space for their lack of impact when it comes to growing the industry.
Taking to Facebook, Eugene, who is also the founder of prominent singing group, Trompies, compared the current big names and administrators in the arts community to football revolutionaries like Dr Irvin Khoza and Dr Kaizer Motuang who have changed the game when it comes to the sport.
In a lengthy post he said that the above-mentioned public figures’ accomplishments were evident, which is why they have been chosen to lead the soccer fraternity.
In contrast, he asked: “But in the music industry fraternity, who are these? Which record company do you own? Which artists were made by these? What qualifies them to run SA industry?”
The post was referenced to four industry veterans, one of which was the record producer Stanley Khoza, who was not impressed.
Stanley accused Eugene of harassment and said that he would be taking legal action against the politician.
“I’m consulting with a lawyer because Eugene has been harassing me for a while.”
“He has been dismissing my music credentials, even though they are easily verifiable and right in front of him.”
He added that during this time he has opted to remain silent to prevent himself from acting out of character. Meanwhile, he further expressed shock at Eugene’s rant highlighting that he never thought he would stoop that low.
