Social media has gone frantic as they try to piece together the cause behind Jacob Zuma’s Mkhonto Wesizwe Party having their first public dispute. This comes as the former president’s daughter Duduzile Zuma gives Secretary General Floyd Shivambu a piece of her mind.
Controversy has followed Jacob Zuma’s MKP since its inception, which they have managed to overcome by presenting a united front to the public. However, all of that has come undone as they experience the inevitable first public dispute at the hands of their member of parliament and their leader’s daughter Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, who has taken social media to condemn their newly elected and controversially acquired Secretary General Floyd Shivambu.
After a letter dated 8 February 2025 and addressed to Duduzile highlighting party members’ dissatisfaction with their secretary general’s overall performance started circulating, a bout of shocking posts from Duduzile directed to Floyd followed shortly. This letter calls for Floyd’s resignation

In these posts, Duduzile refers to Floyd as the worst thing that has happened to the party and then goes on to double down and tell him to “F**k off”. Duduzile has revealed that although she knows she will be persecuted for her opinion, she stands behind rejecting Floyd’s leadership as he does not have the party’s best interests at heart.

In response, the party issued its own letter condemning Duduzile’s actions as they violate their disciplinary code of conduct. Jacob Zuma has also issued a few directives to his daughter, which include issuing a direct public apology to the secretary general, as well as an apology to the various structures that she serves or leads in, including the Southern Caucus of the Pan-African Parliament.
The letter advises Duduzile to issue these apologies immediately, and failure to do so will result in dire consequences such as Duduzile’s termination as a member of the MKP.

The ordeal has had immediate effects on members and supporters as everyone rushes to pick a side. Some believe that Duduzile’s outbursts were justified as Floyd’s leadership has been less than satisfactory, while some members have condemned her for the blatant disrespect, labelling it as unfounded and out of line.
Duduzile Zuma has no political education. She’s going to destroy all the work that has went into building the MK Party. She thinks the party is some family stokvel. Wait and see.
