Are you prepared to give yourself some much needed “me time”? For that, a costly spa visit is not necessary! (we love to hear that, right?)
You may create your own private haven of leisure in your house with a few items from your kitchen and a little bit of imagination.
Let’s get started on making the perfect do-it-yourself spa day.
The mood
First things first, the atmosphere is of utmost importance. I suggest a playing a playlist of less overwhelming music, dim the lights, and burn some scented candles (Lavender is known to be the perfect choice). In order to actually feel relaxed, it requires a peaceful environment.
Take a luxurious bath first.
To relieve aching muscles, fill your tub with warm water and add some Epsom salts (my aunt swears by this method). Add a few drops of essential oils and if you want to feel really fancy, you can add flower petals!
Make your own face masks
Use items you probably already have in your home to make a homemade face mask. For hydration, you can try a honey and yoghurt mask or mash an avocado for a treatment that is high in moisture and rinse it off after a few minutes. I could never understand the concept of placing 2 cucumbers on your eyes but Hobby Farms claims, “The ascorbic acid in the cucumbers works to reduce water retention and thereby decrease overall puffiness.”
Exfoliate!
Remember to exfoliate! For a natural body scrub, combine sugar and coconut oil and gently rub it over your skin to remove dead skin cells.
One lasting thing that we tend to forget when taking care of ourselves is our hands and feet, so give them some attention, they put in a lot of effort! Apply a heavy moisturiser after soaking your feet in warm water and your hands with a basic olive oil rub or your preferred hand cream.
A warm beverage will round off your DIY spa day, a herbal tea is a great way to relax and will do just the trick.
