South African Actress Angel Zuma recently took to social media platforms to talk about her horrendous experience on Mzansi Magic’s Umkhokha: The Curse before her exit.
Angel, who is now based in Canada, had to leave the fan-favourite telenovela for a role of Rafiki she was casted for in Lion King. She shared in a series of videos on her YouTube page that the mistreatment started when she announced that she was leaving the show. She accused the industry icons of threatening to ruin her future when she leaves.
In Umkhokha: The Curse, she portrayed the character of Nomkhosi Mthembu, who was a wife to Khulekani Mthembu.
Narrating her story she said: “I never thought in my life these people would do such things to me because I said I’m leaving, because I resigned. Guys it was horrible. I had the worst experience leaving. Like can we normalise that when a person resigned; there’s nothing obviously you can do to convince them to stay and know they are really leaving.
“Send them well, man. Let them go in peace. You don’t need to fight them; you don’t need to pull strings and connections to try and stop this person from thriving because they will thrive outside. I’ve never cried so much in my life, I’ve never been so hurt and disappointed feeling betrayed,” she said.
Angel revealed that as a result of the horrible experience she received upon handing in her resignation, she suffered from depression. In the clips, she didn’t reveal the industry greats that abused her. She also mentioned that that place was going to kill her, as her future was threatened there.
