Saving money is not the easiest thing to do, even for celebs.
Sade Giliberti
The former YOTV presenter admits that she has always been good with her finances and says she has an account for almost everything, including an account containing “play money”, which she uses for going out and other social activities. Her tip for saving is to place your money in a notice-deposit account, which requires a full month’s notice before you can withdraw any money. She says the small amount of interest earned on this account is worth it.
Zenande Mfenyane
Her number one savings tip is to invest in the growth of a company. Zenande has invested in her own company (which she will not name) since she was 21 years old. The Generations star considers saving an important aspect of her finances because she says it helps her to create a financial blanket over her future.
Mome Nale
Mome likes it old-school and keeps a piggy bank, which she says her husband bought for her as a birthday present. She saves about 10% of her money in it and says she is very excited for December, which is when she plans to smash her piggy bank and put all the money she saved to good use.
Nonhle Thema
This new mommy has only one tip when it comes to saving, which she says has never failed her. “Always think of the future,” she says. With a little baby girl’s well-being to think of, we agree with Nonhle. The little that you sacrifice today can be a great help to you later.
Pearl Thusi
Pearl says consulting a financial advisor may be the best way to handle your savings. “As celebrities, we don’t receive regular pay on a monthly basis,” she says. “So I try to spend as little as possible. If I get [for example] R100 000, I will spend R20 000 and put the rest of it away.” Pearl also mentions that placing a high priority on saving money is also influenced by her daughter whose future she also needs to think of.
