Cipla Nutrition has announced 5FM’s Dj Fresh as one of their brand ambassadors. We chat to this popular presenter about his health and fitness goals.
My fitness goal is… to trim down as much fat without losing muscle. Working out is not just about losing weight, you need to have a balance in what you do and trying to achieve.
Being healthy… means I don’t have to worry about my blood pressure, my cholesterol or any sicknesses I can control by being healthy. I know it may sound clichéd but I believe being physically fit is the start and the rest will follow.
People always ask if I sleep because of the hours I work… My answer is always yes, even though at times they don’t believe me. Sleep is important because your body needs to reboot and refresh from the day and all its activities. Without enough sleep you’ll never able to push yourself to your best ability in gym. I don’t get as much sleep as I should which is six to eight hours because of the hours I work.
People say I am known for my arms… which I would partially disagree to #LOL. I think it’s fair to say that my arms activate first and that’s why they are what they are, I train my arms as much as the rest of my body..
Eating healthy is a difficult task… and being disciplined with your food is the key to being healthy. Eating healthily is a lifestyle change and not a diet. I started eating properly about four months ago, that’s when I started watching what I eat and portion sizes. Cipla has helped me with my new diet that I started almost two weeks ago which is a meal every two hours. It may sound like a lot but the portions sizes and what I eat is essentially what makes it healthy. I don’t believe in cheat days but cheat meals or snack which means being smart on the times I cheat so I don’t take back what I worked hard on in just a meal. I love chocolate so the days I do crave it I would opt for a few blocks of dark chocolate which is healthier.
Since the move from the drive time slot to the morning show on radio… I’m able to train “normally” and have a routine. I make sure I work out four days a week and on weeks when my body is tired I will only put in three days.
I didn’t have a wake-up call…. to change my lifestyle from what it was to being healthy now. I always knew I had to change in order to reach my goals. A simple change from always packing a lunch box from home instead of eating takeaways was one of the major steps that helped fix my health. The little things we take for granted usually make a different.
