From a personal experience, I’ve learnt that the trick with making sure you don’t slip with your finance is by simply making sure that you are very disciplined. This is why I want to help you by offering some tips I’m sure will help you have a smooth sailing financial year.
TAKE A THING OR TWO FROM YOUR PAST
Learning from your mistakes is the best way to do better in the future. So whatever the financial mistake you did last year, make sure you don’t do it again. Whether it was adding another credit card, or buying a new gadget you didn’t need – Avoid it this year.
STAY POSITIVE
So yes, you might have messed up a little in 2014, leaving you in huge debt in January. But don’t be discouraged by this. You can recover. The best way to do this is to start over with a proper plan.
TAKE YOUR TIME
Recovering from debt won’t happen overnight; you also cannot expect to save R100 a month and make millions within a year. So be patient. Give yourself time and never pressure yourself.
GET HELP!
Sometimes you really can’t do it alone. Not everyone is good with money, so if you know you don’t understand your bank status seek advice from a financial planner. Maybe even a workshop on financial management could be a boost, especially if you have a business to run.
THINK AHEAD
Have a set goal for your money going forward. This will help you plan financially. You would be amazed at how incredibly useful thinking for the future can do for you. For example saving money now means you have money to cover you a few months and even years from now.
