Our online editor recently visited the BON Hotel Riviera at the Vaal and she gives us a brief overview.
We all need a break now and then, so when I received an email from Adverb PR inviting me to spend a night at one of their BON Hotels, I was ecstatic. When I heard that the place was less than an hour away from Johannesburg, I was even more delighted.
Here are six things I enjoyed about my stay at The BON Hotel Riviera:
Location
It is only a 45-minute drive from Johannesburg, so think of it as a road trip; before you know it, you would’ve arrived. The hotel is family friendly – you can enjoy basking by the pool side with the kids while your partner plays a game of golf, and when you’re longing for some alone time, you can send the kids to the jungle gym.
Food and drink
Though I skipped on dinner because I wanted to have an early night, I sure did enjoy a few drinks. On my arrival, I was welcomed with a bottle of wine and some biltong, and I finished the bottle almost immediately. The drinks are great, but a bit pricey – expect to pay about R75 for a gin and tonic. I don’t know about you, but that’s a lot for me. For dinner, I was told that a buffet will set you back by R180, which is quite cheap considering that you will eat as much as you want.
Breakfast
Now, this was a highlight for me – you have an option to dine at Matthews Restaurant or have breakfast on the boat. Of course, I chose the boat! You can have breakfast or dinner on the boat, depending on your mood. If you’re on a romantic getaway, I would suggest dinner. Imagine having a three-course meal while gazing at the stars with your partner?
Why BON Hotel Riviera?
It’s close to Johannesburg, yet has everything you need to feel like you’re in faraway location. It provides a quiet environment that you need when on a vacation. It caters for everyone – kids, partners, friends and even your old family members. There is a lot to do, incuding picnics, golf, water sports and cruises. I hear there’s a spa, but I can’t comment much about it as I didn’t try it out. But, do grab your besties or family members and enjoy your stay.
Damage?
Rooms range from R699 to R2 445, depending on when you arrive and how long your stay will be. Spa packages range from R1 425 single/R1 880 double per night, with a minimum of two nights.
