The heaters we use indoors and the cold harsh weather in winter will leave your skin worse than during warmer days. Demelan Cream shares the following easy tips to help keep your skin healthy this season.
Water
Our country has dry winter air, which quickly draws moisture out of your skin, leaving it flaky, dull and itchy. Make sure you’re hydrating your skin from the inside out by drinking lots of water throughout the day. Avoid too much tea and coffee as caffeine is another factor that drains moisture from the body.
Winter moisturiser
Choosing an oil-based moisturiser for the winter months will give your skin a barrier against moisture loss, locking in vital water and nutrients to keep your skin smooth and supple. Remember to apply a night cream to feed and nourish your skin while you sleep and recover.
Sunscreen
Don’t pack away your sunscreen. Although there are no lovely golden rays around in winter, there are still harmful UV rays that could damage your skin.
Dermatologists recommend all-year round use of a good quality sunscreen with a minimum of SPF 30 daily under your moisturiser to protect yourself from the harsh elements, and to avoid developing or worsening hyperpigmentation and dark spots.
Happy hands
Having cold dry hands is one of the most common and annoying symptoms of winter. Keep them well moisturised and choose a good quality pair of gloves to help lock in the moisture and keep them warm.
Vitamins to the rescue
Winter is the most important time of the year to ensure that your skin is healthy and that your body is getting all the vitamins and nutrients it needs to function at its best, regenerate and fight off flu and infection. Vitamin A and E help boost skin condition.
Bath time
Pamper and nourish your skin by adding a few drops of essential oils into your bath daily and watch them work wonders for your winter skin.
Forever on the lips
Licking your lips only makes them dry, chapped and sore. Make sure you keep a good quality lip balm handy throughout winter.
