10 years ago we would have never thought hip hop would have a platform to showcase its fresh talent, but Vuzu has changed that.
Channel 114, famously known as Vuzu AMP, will host The Hustle – a fresh take on finding the best rappers in the hip-hop game. The show will feature 20 finalists who have the sickest rap bars, and illuminate a few contests every week until there is only one winner.
The winner will score a grand prize of R250 000 plus R100 000 music video for their winning song, accompanied by a 6-month public relations contract with African Star Communications. The winner will also get the opportunity to share the stage with other great artists at this year’s Maftown Heights celebration to be held in Johannesburg in November.
To ensure the right rapper is chosen, the finalists will have to convince judges Khuli Chana, AKA and Tumi (from the Volume) that they have what it takes. The judges are looking for the rapper with the X factor – someone with confidence and is ready to take over the hip-hop scene by storm.
You know about the show, but still not sure why you should watch it. We give you 3 good reasons:
MISS SAMMY SOSA
Sammy is a phenomenal presenter, and on this show she is in her element as someone who understands the hip-hop culture, never mind the music. She totally nails the hosting gig, so you don’t want to miss her beautiful face on screen.
RAW HIP HOP
With so much bubblegum and commercial hip hop taking over, this will be a refreshing take on rap music. You will enjoy watching young people spit their bars on the spot. You might just be inspired to start rapping or hustling to make your dreams come true.
GREAT PRODUCTION
South Africa has fast become one of the best countries in Africa to produce great television. The Hustle is a great example of a show that was put together excellently.
Catch The Hustle on VUZU AMP every Tuesday at 7:30pm.
