Bona_FeatureA cup of tea can go with just about anything – cake, a sandwich or cereal, but it can also be enjoyed on its own while you’re watching your favourite show on TV on a Sunday afternoon. And, one of our favourite teas to drink is a good strong cup of Five Roses.

Here are 5 things you didn’t know about South Africa’s favourite tea brand:

  1. In over 100 years of producing this Ceylon tea, there have only been 6 tea masters.
  2. Ceylon tea leaves are hand-picked in the lush highlands of Sri Lanka.
  3. The caffeine found in Ceylon tea is only half the amount that is found in coffee.
  4. Brew your Five Roses for 3–5 minutes, anything longer and your tea may taste bitter.
  5. Ceylon tea is grown in over 30 regions in the world.
