Radio 2000 presenter Kia chats to us about how she is able to balance work, health and family.
By: Boitumelo Mmakou
Kia works as a co-anchor for Radio 2000’s breakfast show Planet Haaibo and also hosts her own show, Saturday Night Live, from 9pm to 12am. She tells us how she pulls this off…
1.Your show’s studio is in Joburg and you live in Cape Town, how do you make sure everything runs smoothly?
I wake up extra early during the week to prepare at the SABC studio in Cape Town. We do technical checks an hour before the show to ensure everything goes well. I do the same procedure for my weekend shows.
2. You’re a mother to three-year-old Olga and six-month-old Sabastian, who are both young and require a lot of your time and attention, how do you manage this as well as your work?
My family comes first; they know they are my first priority. I am lucky to have my mother and partner to help out when I’m at work.
3. After the birth of your son, you quickly got back into shape; how did you achieve this?
The trick is to be fit before and during your pregnancy. This made it easy for me to get back into shape. I also have a fitness instructor who helped me stay healthy.
4. What is your advice to women who want to lose the after-baby fat or just trying to lose weight?
Belly fat is very hard to lose. You must really focus. This means every time you’re at the gym you still do stomach crunches even when it’s leg or arm day. Make sure you eat healthy too.
