1. Find out what works for you and stick to it. The crux of building a fuss-free wardrobe lies in knowing two things: what works for your specific figure and what types of clothes you need to wear for lifestyle. For example, if you have a pear-shaped figure and work in a corporate environment you’ll definitely need a tailored blazer, a pair of dark wash jeans, tailored trousers, A-line skirt, button-down blouse and a wrap dress. These items can then be seamlessly combined to create various outfits.

2. Be fabric savvy. Choosing easy-to-wear fabrics that need minimal ironing is critical to putting together a low-admin wardrobe. Some fabrics that need almost no ironing include denim, polyester blends, wool, and knits.
3. Choose a basic colour palette. If your wardrobe consists of a few basic colours that work well with each other, you don’t have to worry about what matches with what. Just grab and go when you wake up (so you can snooze for 10 minutes more).
4. Keep bottoms basic. If you keep trousers, jeans and skirts simple in both colour and design, they’ll combine effortlessly with everything in your closet. Think dark wash jeans, basic black leggings and navy, grey and black trousers. Then it’s easy to experiment with tops or accessories. For example, a pair of grey trousers with a white blouse can be taken to new heights with the addition of a red handbag or patterned scarf.
5. Make sure your cupboard is organised. Sort out your wardrobe so that everything is easy to locate. Separating items by colour or occasion will make it even easier to just grab a few pieces and be ready in an instant.

6. Keep accessories to a minimum. You don’t need to be wearing matching bracelets and earrings and so on, unless you have time to spare. Your best bet is to opt for one eye-catching accessory per outfit. Decide what you prefer as a feature piece, be it statement shoes, jewellery or eye-catching bags and go from there.
