At the age of 19, Ongeziwe Mbali, is the youngest professional player in the South African Women’s national field hockey team.
Her love for hockey began when she was only in Grade 4 at Summerwood Primary School when she was waiting for a friend to finish hockey practice.
Her friend invited her to join her on the field.
“I was hesitant because it looked difficult. But, when when she found a hockey stick for me, I decided I’d give it a try.”
It proved to be the best decision she could have ever made for her career.
