Congratulations to Ava Duvernay who is the first black woman to direct a movie that has grossed $100 million (over R1 billion). Ava directed A Wrinkle in Time, a fantasy sci-fi movie that sees a young and her two friends venture into space in search of her father after his mysterious disappearance. The movie is based on a book of the same title by Madeleine L’Engle. Ava shared the exciting news on her social media saying she may be the first but definitely not the last.
