Brandon Moreno gave the Mexico City crowd plenty to cheer about Saturday night, earning a unanimous decision win over Steve Erceg in the UFC on ESPN 64 main event at Arena CDMX.

Moreno (24-8-2 MMA, 12-4-2 UFC) outpointed former title challenger Erceg (12-5 MMA, 3-4 UFC) over five closely contested rounds. While Moreno appeared to land the cleaner strikes, Erceg kept things competitive, forcing the judges to make a tough call. In the end, all three scored it 49-46 for Moreno.

After the victory, Moreno called for a fight at UFC 320, set for Sept. 13 in Guadalajara, Mexico, during the promotion’s annual Noche UFC event.

With this win, Moreno continues his climb back toward title contention. He previously snapped a two-fight skid in November by defeating Amir Albazi. Meanwhile, reigning champion Alexandre Pantoja has no confirmed bout but has been linked to a potential fight with Kai Kara-France.

Erceg, despite his resilience, has now lost three straight. He previously fell short in a title bid against Pantoja before suffering a quick knockout loss to Kara-France. His latest defeat leaves him searching for answers as he aims to stay relevant in the division.
