Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is making strong progress in his recovery from a hamstring injury that limited him to just eight games in the 2024 season. Despite the setback, the veteran signal-caller says he’s on track for a full return and is confident about his readiness for the upcoming 2025 campaign.
“If I had to play a game today, I definitely could do that,” Prescott said via the team’s website. “It’s about moving forward healthy to make sure I can play 17 times, 20 — whatever we get to when the time’s right.”
While Prescott didn’t confirm whether he’s at 100 percent, he expressed optimism and revealed plans to take part in the Cowboys’ organized team activities, which begin May 19. “I’m getting close to where I want to be. I don’t want to put a percentage on it,” he said. “I imagine myself being involved in some sort, if not all.”
The 31-year-old emphasized that he’s focused on being fully prepared for Week 1 rather than rushing the process. “I understand my age, what I’ve had, what I’ve gone through — it’s about being my best in the fall,” Prescott said.
Before the injury cut his season short, Prescott was having one of his tougher statistical years, throwing for 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions. It was a sharp contrast to his impressive 2023 campaign, where he led the NFL in touchdown passes.
In September 2024, Prescott signed a four-year extension worth $240 million, including $231 million guaranteed — one of the richest deals in league history.
Now entering his tenth NFL season, Prescott has started all 122 games he’s played for the Cowboys, compiling a 76-46 record, 31,437 passing yards, 213 touchdowns, and 82 interceptions. He’s also been selected to three Pro Bowls.
With a full recovery in sight, all eyes will be on Prescott as he aims to lead Dallas back to contention in 2025.
